The Coelho Winery is located in the historic Willamette Valley.

In the Fall of 2003, an opportunity arose for the Coelho family to purchase a circa 1930 vacant hardware store in Amity, Oregon.  In 2004, Dave and Deolinda along with their four children, completely renovated the vacant building.  The Coelho family did the majority of the design, construction and painting along with the help of friends.

The resulting space became Coelho's Oregon Winery and is ideal for creating premium Oregon wines. Complete with a traditional processing room, temperature and humidity controlled barrel room, and an inviting wine tasting room for our guests.

A fire had damaged the building in the early 1970’s scarring a majority of the wood, but also adding distinctive character.   Dave and Deolinda saw potential for it in their future Oregon winery.  The old hardware store’s interior was completely cleared and much of the building materials were able to be salvaged.  The charcoaled ceiling beams, doors and other recycled wood express how the building has transformed over the years and is a signature feature in the tasting room today.The hardware store space in front would become the tasting room, and the mechanics shop in back would expand to become the processing room, with an attached winery lab and kitchen.

Dan Healy, a local craftsmen, built the large table, bar, and other shelves that furnish the tasting room, utilizing recycled wood that survived the fire in the early 70’s.  Old floor boards from a 1920’s grainery were incorporated into the design as a creative shelving unit and the existing doors were saved and refinished, adding rustic character and giving a nod to the building history.

Construction and renovation of the Coelho Winery property at 111 5th Street was completed just in time for the first harvest in Fall 2004.

The Coelho’s take pride in the reconstructed building, and all of the hard work that was put into restoring and preserving the materials to create a new, personalized space that suits their Oregon winery well.
