Coelho Estate Vineyard
The Coelho’s believe that wine is made in the vineyard.
The Coelho Vineyard is farmed with utmost care and attention for the vines and the environment.
Sustainable viticulture practices, hand picking, and hand sorting reflect their respect for the Willamette Valley terroir.

Dave and Deolinda value their property and its aptitude for growing grapes.
They cherish the surrounding environment, allowing wildlife and native vegetation to support the successful growth of the vines.
Kestrel boxes are placed around the vineyard to provide nesting habitat for the birds of prey, which in turn provides natural rodent control.
Grass is planted between every row to reduce the soil nutrients and increase the stress on the vines. Judicial vine stress helps to develop more concentrated fruit flavors. Roses are planted on the end of many rows to provide an early indicator of potential insect infestation in the vineyard. All of these practices are reflectled directly in the quality of our wines.

Cetifications:
SALMON SAFE is a non-profit, independent organization based in Portland, Oregon dedicated to restoring and maintaining healthy watersheds so that salmon can spawn and thrive.
Our commitment to non-irrigated viticulture and restricted usage of chemicals fertilizers and chemical pest control contributed to the certification of Coelho Vineyard in the SALMON SAFE program in 2008.
LIVE, Inc. (Low Input Viticulture & Enology) Established in 1997, Low Input Viticulture & Enology, Inc. (LIVE, Inc.) is a program providing vineyards and wineries official recognition for sustainable agricultural practices that are modeled after international standards.
LIVE’s certification process, which balances the needs of the worker, consumer and environmental health along with economic sustainability, is the result of an ongoing dialog between academics, growers and environmentalists.
Coelho Vineyard received LIVE, Inc. certification in 2010. Certification is awarded after three years of successful participation in the program.
